WHAT A WEEKEND!!

This past weekend we hosted about 40 eager volunteers at the farm. Most from the Virginia Beach Community Chapel and some friends came from Richmond to give us a hand with many projects needing attention. It was a GREAT weekend in spite of the torrential rain that just wouldn't quit!

We had planned for this weekend for several months; laying out 15 projects, each with a crew chief, tools and materials on hand necessary to complete as much of the task as possible in one day. Although we realized it might rain, we didn't really think it would. The weather had been so nice for weeks before hand I guess we got lulled into a false sense of weather bliss. Even if it rains we'll just keep working or so we thought. What we didn't count on was that it would rain and rain and rain some more! People were great about working in the rain but there were a few tasks that just couldn't get done. More than once I wondered if we shouldn't redeploy people to start building an ark!

Thank you to all who came and gave so much of their time and energy. We have been blessed beyond words.

Here are a few pics with more to come as soon as we get them. Enjoy!

A new (used) fridge for the guest house! So glad to have willing hands hauling it into place.

A touch of beauty along the drive.
Good friends are a welcome part of Restoration Farm.

Many hands at work in the kitchen to feed a lot of hungry workers.

The little guy is the plumber installing a water hydrant.

Bob just looks tired!

Happy painter!

Anyone want some soggy cardboard or some antique storm windows??

Camping was fun...even in the rain.

Master floor man making the most of every piece of 'heart pine' flooring.

Here we see the superintendent trying to trudge through the slimy quagmire.
