Right from the very beginning, we wanted to have laying hens on the farm. Not only to provide us with our own healthy, nutritious eggs but to eventually make them available to friends at a fair price. We now have 13 hens. Nine are about 7 month old Sexton breed and four are Americana. The Americana's lay a very interesting mixture of teal and green blue eggs. The Sexton's lay a classic farm brown egg. We have been getting about six eggs a day. Certainly enough for our needs and a few dozen for others too!
