Coal continues to adjust to life here at the farm. Or should I say, we continue to adjust and be amazed at his strange and often funny antics!
He has a very deep terrible sounding bark. Certainly enough to scare away any would be burglar. However, he has yet to bark at someone who knocks at the door. If Cookie or Cara make so much as a sneeze upstairs Coal goes ballistic but if someone tries to enter through the back door they will get licked to death as they enter.
I enjoy checking the mail each afternoon. It is a good walk; maybe half-a-mile (uphill both ways!). Coal has gotten into the habit of doing this with me. Our driveway crosses a steady flowing stream and is slightly lower than the corn field on either side. Today, Coal thought he saw something in the field on the opposite side of the driveway. He stopped, displayed the perfect hunting dog stance and just when I was saying to myself "That's a nice looking dog!" he proceeded to pounce and land a perfect face-plant right onto the driveway! He is all puppy and still hasn't quit learned the fine skills in how to handle his clumsy legs and EEE sized paws.
Until next time...
