New Life on the Farm

Instead of trying to give a comprehensive update on things and trying to explain the reason for the long hiatus from this blog site, I'm simply going to jump back into the blog with a short paragraph or two and then continue as if it was just yesterday when I last posted an update.

We have spent the last few months getting adjusted to life in America and, more specifically, on a farm. The adjustments have been MUCH more complicated than either of us imagined. Much of our 'farm time' has been spent on getting the house and basic landscape ready for our habitation. We have found a "strong termite colony" in our home, more poison ivy and poison oak than the DEA should allow and learned afresh that when it comes to buying used equipment, "You get what you pay for."

Here's a couple pics of our recent excavation project. Basically, we had to regrade the slope around the house so the termites wouldn't gain easy access. While we had the rented equipment, I took care of a little weeding in Cookie's iris stand. Our friend Cara is supervising!

In contrast to the negative surprises, there are many positive ones to report as well. We have re-discovered the freshness of sweet fellowship with Jesus within the context of a local church. Our new church (New Covenant Fellowship) has welcomed us into their community and blessed us in so many ways. We sense God's presence with each visit to this fellowship.

We have already been blessed by so many visitors to the farm. Folks from India, Jordon, Arizona, England, Switzerland, Mexico, Virginia, Tennessee, California and Ohio have come and spent time with God. By God's grace we have hosted these folks and been used to bring them closer to Jesus.
